Concept

The "Crack" series is an evolving collection of works on 50-size canvases by Mehata, reflecting the fractures emerging in today’s world order, norms, and moral frameworks.

As society transitions from the stillness of the COVID-19 pandemic into an era of renewed upheaval—marked by the Ukraine war, rapid technological shifts, and deepening social divides—these pieces capture the creaking and splitting of once-solid foundations.

Yet, "Crack" is not merely a chronicle of collapse.

Through deep blue gradients tracing fissures across stark white backgrounds, the series confronts pain while seeking the potential for new values to emerge from the wreckage.

Evolving from an earlier faded turquoise prototype, these works achieve a pinnacle of abstract refinement, embodying both the chaos and latent hope of our time.

Mehata Hiroshi, a visionary artist, has long transformed the energy of free improvisation into visual and experiential forms.

From his "sound calligraphy" to digital innovations, he has crossed boundaries, weaving sound into art.

During the pandemic, works like Phoenix Rebirth and The Color Cleanser explored loss and renewal, while Resistance channeled defiance and regeneration. "Crack" extends this journey outward, engaging with a fractured world.

As an ongoing series, each canvas layers cracks to mirror an era caught between the material and the ephemeral.

Mourning what breaks and driven by a creative urge to transcend it, "Crack" invites viewers to peer beyond the fissures. In this turbulent age, the series resonates as a search for new forms and values born from the sound of shattering.
